English Cycle Style continues to make it way in and around parts German, cultivating appreciation for things English along its way. Most recently the event debuted in Basel at Single Speed, one of the finest Brooks Dealers of Excellence on the Continent.
That a bicycle shop would not only offer brands like Brooks and Pashley, but also Nigel Cabourn and handmade shoes, is testament to the changing face of bicycle retailing today. Perhaps not every cyclists cup of tea, but judging by the success of shops such as Single Speed, there certainly exists a segment of the buying public who feel most comfortable doing business with proprietors who let their appreciation for the aesthetics of their products shine through.
Many Swiss braved the existential angst of coming indoors on what was surely one of the finest weather days Basel will see this year, bearing witness to the power of English culture and design.
Many thanks to our new media partners Rouleur, Fahrstil, and Velosophie for promoting this event.
We would also like to thank Michael, Elke, and Nils of Single Speed for their hard work and hospitality, the “wurstsalat” and microbrew were outstanding.
The next edition of English Cycle Style is May 5 in Berlin.
