The Ladies Bike Polo Tournament Hits Barcelona.
At the Brooks Blog, our enthusiasm for bike polo is famously boundless. Few readers can have forgotten 2011′s (now long since sold out) Limited Edition polo mallet, the “Brooks England”, for example. And elsewhere too in the world of kneepads and small gear ratios, we have demonstrably continued to go beyond the mere call of duty.
Take Hell’s Belles. The hardcourt tournament for predominantly female teams joined Ladies Army on the international roster for a first installment in 2011, and as well as helping out in London with prizes and personnel, we sponsored a video to promote it:
Since that time, we have seen other ladies-only tournaments gain a foothold, such as Berlin’s Mallet Dolorosa, which drew teams from all over Europe to the German capital in Spring this year.
At any rate, between the 1st and 3rd of November, Hell’s Belles is upping sticks. After having been hosted for two years by London, its third “volume” will take place in Barcelona. The first day of play welcomes mixed teams but on the second and third, it’s ladies only in a 20-team round robin fight-to-the-death format.
We’re headline sponsors of the event, and looking forward to posting photos from the event soon!
