B17 Limited Edition

B17 World Traveller Limited Edition

Birmingham, West Midlands. Brooks England is pleased to announce the release of the Brooks B17 Select World Traveller 2012 Limited Edition Saddle. This edition celebrates our deep historical associations with the sporting heroes of the previous London Olympiad, as well as our rich relationship with devotees of long distance touring during the inaugural WCR Grand Tour, a competitive circumnavigation of the Earth by bike.
The leather surface features a restyling of a drawing by Frank Patterson, artist and illustrator of the Brooks catalogues of the 1920's, which was realized by artist Richard Phipps.  All saddles have been made using Brooks Select organic leather tops, fixed to a copper plated steel frame and finished with hand hammered copper rivets.
The B17 Select World Traveller is available from our online shop and at chosen Brooks Dealers of Excellence. Production has been capped at 2012 pieces.

London Tweed Run 2012

London Tweed Run 2012

We are happy to report that last weekend's installment of the London Tweed Run was once again a roaring success for all concerned.
Starting at the Princess Gardens in South Kensington, our well dressed riders made a whistlestop tour of various well known landmarks such as the Houses of Westminster, and Buckingham Palace, before finishing up for a sumptuous after-party near Smithfield Market. Period Pashleys, Penny Farthings and vintage tandems, with the occasional tall bike thrown in for good measure, were just a few of the different styles of two-wheeled conveyance to be seen on a cloudy but mainly dry day of cycling in the English Capital.
Many of us from Brooks made the trip, kitted out in our best Tweed, of course. We were delighted to see that most of the other participants, regardless of the type of bike they chose to ride, had a Brooks saddle on top, not to mention our Cycle Bags.

World Cycle Racing Update

World Cycle Racing Update

The riders taking a tilt at Alan Bate’s Guinness World Circumnavigation record in the WCR Grand Tour have now spent close to three months on the road. At the Brooks Blog, we have documented their progress in our weekly Race Updates, which pull together on one page the week’s most compelling images, strangest moments and most obvious instances of that mainstay of Long Distance Touring, “The Kindness of Strangers”, scientifically graphed out with our trusty KOSometer. Heroic mileage, savage headwinds, sub-zero “bivvying” and rolling repairs on a Sunday in the desert are all part of the rich tapestry of stories which have made the Grand Tour much more than a simple Bike Race.
